COVID-19 Updates | March 9, 2020

Dear Residents, Family Members, Employees, and Friends of The Village:

We know you may be concerned about the spread of COVID-19 (the new coronavirus) and how it may impact us here at The Village at Incarnate Word. Ensuring our employees and residents are in a safe and healthy environment is our greatest concern and is at the heart of our mission to extend the healing love of Jesus Christ to all those we serve.

At this time, Village management has decided to take additional precautionary steps and limit the potential for exposure. To this end, effective immediately we are suspending all internal Connection’s programs and volunteer groups. These events bring in many people from the broader San Antonio community. We at The Village do not have a way to determine the exposure potential of our volunteers and Connection program members which has prompted the suspension of their events. It is important to note that The Village at Incarnate Word has no cases of coronavirus in our community. Again, these steps are precautionary and are being taken out of an abundance of caution.

We will certainly continue these group events once the coronavirus has run its course and it is deemed safe to do so.

For family members and friends, we ask that you do not visit The Village if you have any symptoms of respiratory illness. Those symptoms include cough, fever, sore throat, runny nose, and/or shortness of breath. We understand that connecting with loved ones is incredibly important, and there are a variety of other ways you might consider connecting with them. These may include telephone, email, text, or through Skype or Facebook. Please let us know how we can help facilitate communication.

In response to the CDC’s Level 3 Travel Health Notice, if you are a family member that has recently traveled abroad we are asking that you please notify us and answer a brief questionnaire regarding your travels. The questionnaire will be located at the reception desk and will be returned to me once complete.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have recommended a variety of steps that we are implementing to help reduce the potential for the virus to enter our building. This includes the flu virus as well. We need your help in preventing infectious diseases in our community.

We will notify you if any residents or staff are diagnosed with COVID-19. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at: 210-829-7561. You may also continue to check The Village at Incarnate website for updates: https://tviw.wpengine.com/

For additional information, please visit the CDC’s coronavirus disease information page at: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/

Thank you for your continued support and for being a valuable member of our community.

With gratitude,
