COVID-19 Update | May 19, 2020
Dear Family Members, Residents, and Friends of The Village:
Yesterday, we entered Phase 2 of reopening our great state. In addition, the San Antonio/Bexar County Stay at Home Order expires this evening at 11:59 pm.
As mentioned in our last update, as the State and City ease restrictions, we here at The Village are taking limited steps to ease restrictions within the community.
With the implementation of Phase 2, The Village’s Spiritual Life Team and Resident Services Department are happy to announce that beginning Thursday, May 21 the celebration of the Mass in St. Joseph’s Chapel will be open to residents on a limited basis. The Village is following guidelines from the Archdiocese for reopening. A more detailed communication regarding Mass protocol has been provided to residents. Again, this is for residents only. No outside visitors or family members may attend.
The Wellness Center will also be opening on a limited basis. The Village will follow the same resident-use protocol for the Wellness Center as we have for the pool. No more than two residents may use the pool or Wellness Center at any given time to adhere to social distancing requirements. The use of both areas is by appointment only to allow for cleaning and sanitizing between sessions. Residents should limit the use of either area to one hour. As a reminder, residents please do not use the showers in the pool dressing room. One restroom is open for use.
The hours for both the pool and wellness center are:
- Monday – Friday: 10:30am to 3:30pm
- Both are closed on Saturday and Sunday
As a reminder to our residents, if you leave The Village overnight, or have a hospital visit, when you return you must quarantine for 14 days. Meals will be delivered to your room during that time. There will not be a charge for these meals.
Residents, please always remember to wear your mask when outside of your apartment. If you have a private attendant, for your protection, and for the protection of our community, they must wear a mask while on Village premises including your room. Masks should cover BOTH mouth and nose.
As you may be aware, Governor Abbott has ordered that all employees and residents in Texas nursing facilities be tested for COVID-19. We are currently working with the San Antonio Fire Department to implement a plan to have all employees and residents in assisted living, memory care, and extended care tested. More information will be forthcoming once the details are established. At this time, it does not appear that independent living residents will be tested.
Village management continues to receive the highest number of questions about visitation. Visitation is still prohibited per the Governor’s order and mandates from Texas Health and Human Services and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. We expect to see the restrictions on visitation eased during Phase 3 of reopening. Let us pray that Phase 2 goes well.
The Village continues to proceed with an abundance of caution as we navigate this challenging time. Thank you all for your continued prayers and support. It makes all the difference!
Most sincerely,
Paul Harrison
Chief Executive Officer
