COVID-19 Update | July 10, 2020

July 10, 2020

Dear Residents and Family Members,

Yesterday, one of our independent living employees tested positive for COVID-19. This employee does not provide resident care or interact with residents as part of his/her job duties.  All areas where this employee worked have been disinfected and the employee is at home self-isolating.

Given this staff member’s role and job duties, we do not believe there was direct exposure with any resident or other employee, so we will not be implementing a quarantine in independent living at this time.

The Village continues to take precautions to minimize the risk of exposure to the virus such as body temperature checks of all employees, restricting visitation, enhanced sanitation and cleaning, and health screenings for outside medical personnel coming into the community. In addition to these steps, the Village has started a process of on-going surveillance for COVID-19 within our employee population. The process involves taking a monthly random sample of employees and administering the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) COVID-19 test.  This monthly, randomized testing of employees will continue for the duration of the pandemic.

Please be reminded of the importance of wearing masks, social distancing, and washing your hands. In addition, we encourage all residents in independent living to please notify the receptionist if they are not feeling well. Residents in our licensed areas are monitored daily for signs and symptoms of COVID-19.

Family members, you are also encouraged to notify the community if your loved one is reporting to you that they are not feeling well. You may call the front desk and ask to speak with Concierge and/or Resident Services. Concierge is available 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Resident Services is available 8a to 5p Monday thru Friday.

We understand the concerns around COVID-19 in our community. Please know that we remain committed to protecting residents and employees while remaining transparent with our resident family members.

Thank you for your continued support and prayers during this challenging and ever-changing situation.

Kindest regards to all,

Paul Harrison

President and CEO
