COVID-19 Update | July 16, 2020

July 16, 2020

Dear Residents and Family Members,

Over the past two weeks updates have been made by care level. This week I would like to update everyone.

We are reporting our first resident positive case this week. This resident resides in our memory care unit and was identified as part of The Village’s testing response after an employee notified The Village, they had tested positive after being exposed to an infected family member. Our response included testing all the memory care employees and residents. All the employees tested negative for the virus and all the residents tested negative, except one. Due to the one positive test, we will be retesting memory care residents and employees every 3 to 7 days until we have no positive results. The one positive resident is in isolation in accordance with local and state health official guidelines and we have notified both Metro Health and Texas Health and Human Services.

The Village continues to take precautions to minimize the risk of exposure to the virus such as body temperature checks of all employees, restricting visitation, enhanced sanitation and cleaning, and health screenings for outside medical personnel coming into the community.

We will continue the process of on-going surveillance for COVID-19 within our employee population. The process involves taking a monthly random sample of employees and administering the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) COVID-19 test. This monthly, randomized testing of employees will continue for the duration of the pandemic. Nursing staff have, and will continue with, daily assessment of residents for signs and symptoms of COVID-19.

We understand the concerns around COVID-19 in our community. Please know that we remain committed to being transparent, while respecting the privacy of those involved as we work through these difficult situations.

Please, feel free to call the community with any questions. My extension is 140. You may also ask to speak with Jeanette Eisenmenger, The Village COO (extension 157), or Lynda Jennings, The Village VP of Clinical Services and Compliance (extension 213).

As we know, this virus will continue to challenge us in the months to come, so thank you for your continued cooperation, support and prayers, as we strive to fulfill our mission of extending the healing ministry of Jesus Christ to all those we serve.

Kindest regards to all,

Paul Harrison

President and CEO
