COVID-19 Update | August 10, 2020
Dear Residents and Family Members,
Since our last update, we have retested all employees and residents in Angelique House and Alphonse House. Angelique encompasses our type B assisted living and memory care while Alphonse is our type A assisted living.
All employees and residents in Alphonse House are negative while in Angelique our one positive resident again tested positive. All other Angelique residents tested negative. We do have two staff members that tested positive. Both are asymptomatic. One employee does not work with residents and the other had notified us that they had potentially contracted the virus from a family member. We had sent this staff member home to isolate then had them back out for testing on Thursday, August 6. Both employees are now at home isolating.
Tuesday, August 11 the San Antonio Fire Department will be testing all residents and employees in DeMatel House extended care, which is The Village’s nursing facility section. We will communicate the results of the testing as soon as possible.
We continue to work closely with Texas Health and Human Services (HHS) and Metro Health as we respond to the pandemic.
Many of you may have seen the recent news reports about visitation now being allowed at retirement communities. We are happy that HHS has now authorized limited visitation to nursing facilities and long-term care communities. There are specific conditions to visitation which require additional pre-planning on our end.
For more information on visitation rules, visit:

We will be updating residents and families later this week with The Village’s visitation policy/protocol and we look forward to officially welcoming families back to the community.
Please feel free to call the community with any questions. My extension is 140. You may also ask to speak with Jeanette Eisenmenger, The Village COO (extension 157), or Lynda Jennings, The Village VP of Clinical Services and Compliance (extension 213).
As we know, this virus will continue to challenge us in the months to come, so thank you for your continued cooperation, support and prayers, as we strive to fulfill our mission of extending the healing ministry of Jesus Christ to all those we serve.
Kindest regards to all,
Paul Harrison
