COVID-19 Updates | December 13, 2020

December 13, 2020

Dear Residents, Family Members, and Friends:

Thank you for the outpouring of prayers and well wishes for our residents and staff as we deal with the surge of COVID-19 here in San Antonio and the surrounding areas.

This past week on Thursday, December 10 we completed testing of all residents and staff in DeMatel extended care, Alphonse House assisted living, and Angelique House assisted living and memory care.

All residents and staff in DeMatel and Alphonse House tested negative. The Bexar County positivity rate of 15.7% requires that we continue to test DeMatel staff twice per week.

In Angelique House memory care, we retested the residents that had previously tested negative and all the staff on Tuesday, December 8. No staff tested positive; however, one resident did have a positive result. The other residents that had tested negative on Friday, December 4 continued to test negative.

For memory care residents that have previously tested positive, the guidance is not to retest them as they may test positive for up to 90 days even after recovering.

Upstairs in Angelique House all residents and staff tested negative; however, a caregiver that provides companionship to one resident did test positive. This requires that all residents on the second floor be placed on quarantine. We continue to monitor the residents on the second floor for signs and symptoms of COVID-19 and take the appropriate steps to mitigate the potential for any spread of the virus.

Tomorrow December 14, we will complete another round of testing for all Angelique House staff and residents both upstairs and in memory care, except those who have already tested positive downstairs. The test results should be reported Tuesday evening. We will update families when the results are available.

Again, The Village’s positive cases reflect the surge in cases here in San Antonio. We urge everyone to continue to take every precaution possible including wearing a mask, social distancing, and washing your hands often.

Please, feel free to call the community with any questions. My extension is 140. You may also ask to speak with Jeanette Eisenmenger, The Village COO (extension 157), or Lynda Jennings, The Village VP of Clinical Services and Compliance (extension 213).

Thank you for your continued cooperation, support and prayers, as we strive to fulfill our mission of extending the healing ministry of Jesus Christ to all those we serve.

Stay safe and well,

Paul Harrison
