COVID-19 Updates | January 25, 2021
January 25, 2021
Dear Village at Incarnate Word Residents and Families:
The outbreak we experienced in our Angelique House Memory Care is behind us. Sadly, we did have five residents pass after contracting the virus. We ask for prayers for their families.
I am excited to share that through the Pharmacy Partnership for Long-Term Care Program, CVSHealth vaccinated 95% of our residents and 80% of our employees on January 14. In addition, a team of nurses with CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Alamo Heights vaccinated our Sisters and some staff. To date, the total number of people vaccinated is 409. Pharmacists with CVS will return on February 4 to administer the second dose of vaccine to both employees and residents. The CHRISTUS nurses returned today to administered second doses. Vaccines are the most important tool we have in the fight against COVID-19.
Families have asked if the rollout of the vaccines will change the State’s visitation rules. At this time, the State has not indicated that there will be any changes to the rules. We hope that toward the end of the first quarter there may be some changes but that remains to be seen. We do know that well into the future we will have to continue to exercise caution and maintain enhanced safety measures. The Village continues to follow State guidance on visitation and Essential Caregiver visits.
Cases this new year continue to be very high in Bexar County so we urge everyone to continue to wear your mask, social distance, avoid crowds, and wash your hands often. Together, we can reduce the spread of COVID-19.
Please, feel free to call the community with any questions. My extension is 140. You may also ask to speak with Jeanette Eisenmenger, The Village COO (extension 157), or Lynda Jennings, The Village VP of Clinical Services and Compliance (extension 213).
